Mykonos is a fairly upmarket destination and is one of the most expensive of the Greek islands. People
of all ages, singles, couples and families all enjoy at least one of Mykonos beaches. Rich in natural beauty, dotted with pretty whitewashed villages and the famous windmills with their sails turning in the breeze, it attracts many visitors every year. Although there has been much tourist development in Mykonos, the island has managed to retain its essential atmosphere. This is mainly because all new buildings must be in keeping with the architecture of the island. Mykonos is home to some brilliant beaches and therefore has some brilliant water sports and beach activities available. Water sports available to you are windsurfing, surfing, scuba diving, snorkelling, paragliding, jet-skiing, water-skiing, hiring out pedalloes, going on boat trips or just going swimming. Mykonos enjoys a Mediterranean climate of very long and hot summers. July and August are the hottest months with an average temperature of 30 °C. Mykonos can be fairly windy and this tempers the heat.
